TF LEaRN Programme @ NUS 2013 Application and Arrival Guide
So As according to my post on College Life. Here is my post regarding my exchange to NUS part of the programe TF LEaRN. It is a complete overview of the the experiances and events of my programme
So what is TF LEaRN?
TF LEaRN is an cool acronym stands Tamasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking. Basically it is an exchange programme which is funded by Tamasek Foundation in order to bring Future Leaders of ASEAN and Asia for leadership training and regional networking among the participants these participants are known as TF Scholars. It is a programme where the Scholars are given stipends to cover their daily and accommodation needs during their exchange.
How to apply?
the candidates of the programme are mainly from ASEAN and some other countries of Asia.( India,China and Japan) They are usually Students enrolled in universities in theier home countries which have an MoU of exchange programmes in plae ie you are able to exhcange to NUS withou payment of tution fees. And each of the universities have their own selection process and get to nominate at most 4 of their students as candidates for the programme.
Here were the requirments at My home University UGM ( Universitas Gadjah Mada) :
You cant relax yet. There are various formalities that have to be done once you've been selected for the programme, the booking of your accommodations ect. This is very important it will be very inconvenient to not be allocated the desired residence chosen for you'll. And you will be able to choose between a single room (ac/non-ac) or 6 bedroom apartment with single common bathroom inside.Note: Rooms with A/C will be pay per use. Also the rooms will differ on their position/ which level they are on will determine the facilities that level has for example the most desirable floor/ level is 17 as it has both the laundry room and pantry room. however one will be assigned a room on a floor that is randomly picked. Tho one may pic to have a preference of a mixed gender floor/single gender. It should be said to choose mixed gender floor as the 17th floor is a mixed one.
You will be able to check in on a date earlier than when uni actually starts however you will be charged extra and it will not comprise of the meal plan hence you will have to eat out.
I was allocated a single room (non-ac) on the 16th floor which is a single gender floor. It is a corner room room 120. hence it has a diffrent design from the normal single rooms. here are some pics :

After submitting the there is a interview of the applicants and of which 4 are chosen and nominated to NUS/ TF for the programme. And Just being nominated by your home university does not assure that one will be selected for the programme how ever!!!
NUS has its own selection criteria that has to be passed first before one will be able to partake in the programme. NUS requires that one pass the stringent online registrars non graduating exchange registrations requirements and more importantly have paid/recieved approval for a Students pass by the Singaporean ICA. Without these two important requirements one will not be able to be eligible for the programme.
So once you've been selected what do you do?
